It’s go time!

Ella is officially coming home! It’s about a month sooner than we were planning, but her treatment center announced it is closing its doors and we were instructed to pick our kids up by February 14. Quite the shocker!

It’s very sad. They have helped so many adoptive families. There are some legal issues they have been fighting for a few years now (we had no idea).

We are fortunate that Ella was almost done with treatment and it’s awful for the families who have to find somewhere else to send their kids last minute.

Kyl and I are on the road as I type this! 23 hour drive. We’ll get there tomorrow night. Kyl will fly back on Sunday and Ella and I will road trip back next week. We’ll hang out in Atlanta and Nashville as we head back west. She has a lot of stuff there – that’s why we have to drive.

Never a dull moment at the Rusk house!

  1. Amy! Wow, that is so exciting! Very sad about the organization and families whose kids needed more time there, but I’m very happy to hear Ella is coming home. Good luck with the drive and pick up, hope all goes great.

  2. !!! That’s crazy, but I’m so glad the timing worked out for you! We will maybe be ships in the night next week as we are flying through Atlanta for our connecting flight to grand Cayman (last big fam trip for awhile, with Brendan being on a college schedule next year – so we’re going all out). The kids were trying to strong arm us into staying a night in Atlanta so we could go to the aquarium and see whale sharks. You guys should do that and report back!!
hope you are well too, miss you 😘😘😘

  3. Wow, that is sudden! And very sad for the other families too. I’ll be thinking of you all this weekend. I hope adjusting back to CO life goes well for Ella. How great to be back together again. ❤️
